You understand how to     clearly communicate—not     only the technical details
    of a project, but the
    interest factor that will
    catch a reader's attention.

Services

Wordsworth Communications provides versatile written communications support for infrastructure projects. Whatever the assignment, our core service is capturing the knowledge of your technical experts (while minimizing their time involved) and accurately communicating that information to the document's target audience in a logical, clear, convincing way.  Doing so involves:

  • Strategizing – Articulating the purpose and primary message of your document in support of project and overall business goals.

  • Distilling – Analyzing a wealth of project information and identifying the key points to best communicate your message.

  • Translating – Accurately explaining specialized technical concepts in a way that non-experts can easily understand.

  • Managing – Achieving schedule, budget, and strategic goals while coordinating the input of large, diverse project teams.

  • Producing – Adeptly using the appropriate tools to develop and deliver polished final products.

Most projects involve a combination of the following services:

Writing – Working from interviews with your technical experts and other available background material we write magazine and newsletter articles, annual reports, executive summaries, reports, proposals, project fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, web site content, executive correspondence, press releases, marketing materials, and award submissions. We coordinate reviews and revisions, working closely with the project's technical lead as well as your in-house communications staff as needed.

Editing – For materials drafted by technical team members, we provide substantive editing and proofreading to ensure that documents are understandable, complete, and cohesive—even if they were written by a diverse project team. We pay attention to the details, eliminating errors and ensuring consistency.  A fresh eye focused on these potential flaws can greatly enhance the quality of a document, allowing high quality technical work to shine. We provide all suggested revisions in "tracked changes" mode to allow the project manager to make the final decision on any document adjustments.

Document Design – Your document should look polished and professional. It should also be eye-catching, draw the reader in, and be easy to navigate—even for readers who are in a hurry. It should be appropriate for its purpose and audience. Wordsworth Communications provides a range of graphic design services to support written materials. We develop templates and format Microsoft Word documents, lay out lengthy documents and newsletters in Adobe InDesign, create templates for Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, develop charts and design elements in Adobe Illustrator, and enhance images using Adobe Photoshop. Brochures, meeting boards, simple meeting announcements and lengthy technical reports all benefit from a creative eye that understands your technical meaning and message.

Web Design – Project web sites are an expected means of communicating a project's purpose, milestones, temporary impacts, and long-term benefits to area residents, businesses, and travelers. Online surveys allow project teams to solicit input from a wider range of community members—and do so more economically—than using hard copy surveys alone. Wordsworth Communications can develop and host your project web site, with services tailored to your project's budget. We can also create online surveys and process the responses, delivering results in Microsoft Excel or other formats.
